Who we are
Raijin Sumo is the first ever North Carolina based Sumo wrestling club! We love training, the North Carolina sun (even in the summer, though she be a brutal mistress), and above all— wrestling with good people.
We welcome beginners, seasoned athletes, and curious visitors!
How we got started
It all started from a reddit post with two guys messaging over the internet. It then naturally lead to said two guys wrestling in the park, which then somehow gave them the crazy idea to convince other people to do the same... and it worked! Thus, Raijin Sumo was born.

We run the club through Discord, with all the latest events, planning, sumo pop ups, etc. By joining one of the tiers, you will be invited to our Discord server where we can get to know you! The server holds the most up to date practice schedule (which can include impromptu practices and events). If you want to join the community, please join one of the tiers below!
